I decided that I wanted to post my story, which was first posted on WebNovel, here on Scribblehub, for exposure purposes. Do I need to prove that I didn't just copy the story, and if so, how?
Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this for me.

The stories are below (slight plug):

Generally, you don't have to prove anything unless someone brings it up. Innocent until proven guilty.

That said, speaking from experience of posting on RRL first then here, some people messaged me to confirm if it was copied. Easiest way is simply leave a note on webnovel saying it is also being published on SH. (Not sure what WN policy is for linking as I'm not there so might be easeir to just call it SH)

Innocent until proven guilty is a principle of penal law, not of civil law. Civil law knows very well the reversion of the burden of proof, and guilty until proven otherwise.

Sigh, if you really must...

I am trying to make it sound nice. But if you really want the truth, then admins/mods are too lazy to check every single little thing as it is too much work and effort. So they only check when someone reports it.

As for legally speaking, the DMCA requires you to prove that you own the content, just no one bothers to and just blocks first asks questions later cause it is too much work.

So innocent until proven guilty, mkay?

This is more a case of lack of interest and enforceability. As it would be too much of a hassle to provide accountability.

I think I'll just follow Inv's suggestion, and post on SH that my story is also on WN and vice versa. Tbh, I don't think they'll care much about a tiny story like mine.
Thank you.

O.o We basically said the same. Interesting. Should have better read the spoiler. But aside from that, I work on the basis of the GDPR rather than DMCA.

Under same author name? Some of my novels are elsewhere but as long as they are under my name I think it's ok.
