Not sure if I picked the correct subforum, but whatever I guess. I have a question, or a discussion, depends on what you want. A narcissist character, an egocentric character, maybe someone who possesses both traits or even more similar traits. How will such a character react to meeting their copy? And I mean literal copy or a clone. Imagine some kind of fantasy or sci-fi setting where you can clone or copy someone. Another question, what will change if the said copy was gender bendered?

Honestly, they probably wouldn't be that mad. If they really think themselves better than others, then they'd probably get along with someone of the exact same disposition. Unless, of course, they don't wanna share their title.

If the copy was gender bendered and the person found that person attractive, you better bet they'd be fuckin. The way I see it, it'd just be two "geniuses" working to create someone as smart or perhaps even smarter than them.

Or until we realize that cloning actually copied every single data from their body like their DNA and stuff and the baby comes out a deformed horror. :blob_hmm_two:

The bestgirl of my current story is an egomaniacal dragon girl who buries all of her flaws under a 6 foot thick layer of delusion. If she met an exact copy of herself that had exactly the same abilities and disposition, both would (in an attempt to prove themselves to be the superior one) immediately pick up on one another’s character flaws and start tearing the other apart without a SHRED of self awareness.

I was asking more in terms of what if she saw the second her? Not someone similar as I mentioned, but literally her. She looks in the mirror, and then the reflection walks outside and now there is two of them.

Those are different things, as @Ilikewaterkusa said.
A Narcissistic Character who meets another self, contrary to what people might believe, would not fall in love with themselves. Instead, they would be double shaken. For in their mind, they are already the only ones who deserve to be loved in the world.
Imagine this: a person who doubts every one else in the world but their own value. A person who once someone asks if there is someone else who they like, they say "themselves". If another "self" were to appear to share their own value, it would be the same as their own existence being denied in the world. For it is the same as having to share their own place in the world with another person, something that the Narcissistic Person cannot accept in the first place.
Now, a person who is only Ego-Centric is not lost in self-delusion of their own place in the world. They may react N-ways to seeing a copy of themselves. It will all depend on which part of themselves they are most focused on.

I think they will see it as only right and proper because they are (of course) perfection, so if someone was copied it should have course be the best person.

Now, in case the other "self" were to be different from them in any way, things could come to a better outcome. A narcissist, in that case, would identify the other not as a clone of themselves, but rather as someone else. In which case, you would have two different individuals.
They might act similar, since they come from the same model, but they would not be in total opposition in this case. Only imagination would tell what the outcome of such a meeting would bear. They might even stop being narcissists in the future, who knows?

In my experience, narcissists hate other narcissists. The soulmate of a narcissist isn't another narcissist, it's someone who is the opposite of a narcissist.

We didn't do anything special. We just agreed to stay out of each other's way and to avenge the death of the other if something should happen to them.

They will never admit or believe the other is the a 'copy' of them, because in their mind they have to be the greatest and smartest. They'll find faults in whatever technology created this copy or clone, call it inferior, and attempt to find (or feign) faults in it.

The clone would be doing the exact same but to the original. The clone would claim the cloning technology made him better and smarter than the original.
