So... I wanted to do a feeler on Naga girls. Either as an MC or romance interest to the MC.

Does it bother people to have 'snake legs'? And (most important) is it hard for people to put their head in the story since its different from how they think in real life? (It seems the more you vary from human comprehension it gets harder to put yourself in the story...) I'm curious if they find them appealing or not also. And does appeal of naga race drop for males instead of females?

In AD&D there was a monster called yuan-ti where it was part snake but it was more mutated and didn't have uniform features. I never hear people role play either one of these or as lizardmen, in making a story. So this seemed slightly different but raised questions on appeal for nagas.

I'm worried about how a creature like a naga could do in a story and if people could accept it. Male nagas don't seem appealing also. So maybe it would be best to do them as a female race. Or maybe female appearance race. (Maybe the boys would have a lower percentage than females and be 'traps'?)

I thought also the snake body of the naga race could be where it stores a lot of its abilities and magic. And that the tail was under-utilized in terms of creating more abilities that could be used for 'RPG' effects.

Nagas through history (or more like, myths) were a full-female race that (just like Arachne and Harpies) kidnapped males to breed with them. So, if you want to be "historically accurate," you go female only with them.

And yes, please write about snek MC. We need more love for snek girls, they are very underrepresented on this site.

I think most people should be fine with snake people. For any race there will be some people who will be less interested in it, but there are only a few stories here with them (I can think of one...).

So... it's probably fine? But there isn't evidence for or against it. The focus will still be on the story before the race, even if a few readers leave because of it you should be fine.

I like that pic. And thanks for your comment.

Naga makes me think of Queen Azshara and wow.

If you’re thinking like lamia stuff, I had a lamia gender bender novel I experimented with, but it never got past the first few chapters. Basically an explorer violated an ancient shrine to a snake god and was turned into a lamia girl. Abandoned the story because world building was weak, and the plot didn’t really have anywhere to go

So if someone had a good plot and better world building would you have been able to enjoy it?
Don't compromise between the naga and mandatory catgirl anymore.
Pick both!

So are catgirls pretty high in the wanted creatures list now? (I like them but not sure if I'm bias compared to the rest of the reader population.)

Y'know... I kinda want to make a tier list ranking race appeal/popularity.
I'll do it if I get some time, but I would say catgirls, along with foxgirls are S rank. Definitely.

Catgirls are traditional companions.
Almost all setting where catgirls exist, there is one of them as protagonist's companion.
You simply can't go without them.
The fox girls are also equally popular, if not more so. The fantasy harem / romance often has them too, because, well, fox spirits are mythological seducers.

I can only see naga as the dnd type:
DnD Naga

Or the WarCraft type:
WarCraft Naga

If you want an all female race with snake like lower body, I'd go with either Lamia (the more popular choice) or Drakaina (my preference). Yuan-ti is copyrighted by dnd, so you can't use that one either.
MGE Lamia
DnD Lamia Noble
Drakaina (by IrenHorrors)

As to your actual question, yes, there's a large audience. Whenever monster girls appear, lamias are sure to be in the top five.

This seems like a cool idea, as far as RPG abilities go at least.

I like your pics too. Thanks for comment. The d&d version looks freaky :O And for the lamias to be in the top 5 is very cool. Didn't know that. :)
