My traction on SH seems to be about ten times higher than on RR!

For my newest release, Lady Commander, the growth or interests, you might say, seems to be about five to ten times better than on RR, assuming there aren't simply a lot of lurkers who don't have accounts on RR following the story and I simply don't know it.

Despite that unknown, there's about 25% fewer total views here on SH.

Now isn't that interesting?

Based on all the numbers I've seen it's lead me to believe RR as a lot more lurkers with no accounts. At present SH has ~210k registered accounts while RR has ~740k but it's had 7 years more to collect that number.

We like you a lot more here, that's why.
Why, thank you, Paul.

All right. Let me know if you like it.

That's very interesting. I've said it recently, but I think SH feels like RR about four or five years ago when I first got on there. Now RR seems very highly saturated with too many writers.

And by comparison, how old is SH?

I think it's been around since 2019? So 6 years.
210k/6 = SH
740k/7 + lurkers = RR

RR > SH

This is why you cross-post. And for the record, SH numbers are quite easy to inflate, so that also distorts the stats.

RR is 13, but I get where your coming from. It also had a head start from it's LMS transition.

That's kind of how it goes the longer a site stays up, too many stories and not enough active readers (or just too many lurkers). I've seen this pattern on other sites, too, like Wattpad and FictionPress.

I also post on both RR and SH, and yes, I agree, the community here is more active and although I get more views on RR, I get more interaction here.

I've also noticed people are review-shy on both sites, so I kind of find it a little frustrating when I need feedback on my stories.

Simply add author note : Please write a review.

Worse : If i get 5 more reviews i will write 1 bonus chapter next time.

The Royal Road absolutely does have more lurkers than registered users.

They are the site that tops the Google search lists.

If anyone looks for the free (web) novel, he (or she) would be inevitably directed towards the Royal Road.

Most of them are not going to stay. The vast majority of the novels would appear strangely unfinished and the site is filled to the brim with Amazon ads, so the average reader would binge through whatever is free and leave, most likely not even realizing that the novels are serialized.
