My thoughts on AC Shadows after seeing the trailer.

The era must've been set after Hideyoshi Toyotomi rose to power after Nobunaga Oda's death in Honnoji.

And it is probably set in between Ieyasu Tokugawa feud with Hideyoshi Toyotomi for the unification of Japan.

And since, Yasuke is there too. He must be serving Hideyoshi Toyotomi before but he probably defected since the female MC is the daughter of the previous iga ninja clan head.

Well... I do hope they will include the 7 spears as a mini boss fight with Tokugawa's retainers being allies at least lol.

You know how it is lol... Yasuke is real and he is the only black samurai in that era bc Nobunaga was very amused by him as he is so big and tall.

About the twitter outrage... The Japanese twitter side ain't happy either. iirc I've also read a jp tweet that the structures are mostly Chinese inspired and not built like actual japanese... so... if that's true, the outrage is understandable lol.

Just exploring the outrage. I too would've been tick off if my culture will be represented but somehow miss it entirely.

I get he is a samurai and whatnot, and I don't really care about his skin color, but I would be PISSED if I was Japanese and in the one AC where things take place in Japan, the MC isn't Asian. Like, it doesn't make any sense.

The only thing that could've happened is that if they put an Japanese MC, they would be compared with Ghost of Tsushima, and let's be honest, not a single AC , past or future, is at that level.

yeah, i've seen a lot of that from JP twitter as well. boy are they not happy at how dodgy Ubi has been with the game. which is a little odd as one of the few things Ubi has consistently got right is the attention to historical detail in the settings. makes you wonder how they managed to so badly cluck this up. is it some sort of horribly timed and handled diversity initiative or did they just think the japanese wouldnt notice or care?

that's, from what i've seen, a significant part of the outrage. no one disputes Yasuke existed but there is a fair amount of dispute about what exactly he was and how he fit in the society at the time so Ubi making him a protagonist instead of an NPC has mightily annoyed a lot of japanese.

Now being black MC in Japan is idiotic. But who are going to stop down to their levels to argue with them.

The price is too much as I don't even know if it would be a finish product without bugs or not. Then they will slap 80 bucks dlc to remove the bucks.

A skin is different from a whole character, even more so an MC, the face of the game. I didn't play any AC since Unity and I don't play on buying any other because the style changed too much, but I do get the twitter hate.

I also like to watch things burn, even more so greedy companies, so I'm enjoying the scene.

He wasnt a samurai. In the one source we have about him, he is only mentioned as a retainer. This could mean anything. If anything, he was likely just a servant for Nobunaga, something for him to display.

I think most people don’t expect it to be done well. I think it’s an interesting concept that will be completely mishandle. The optics of picking the 1 black guy in all of feudal Japan to make a game about is pretty blatant. I feel like any good story that could exist is going to be underscored by social activism.

I predict it’s going to pretty off putting to the eastern audiences

I think people are stupid for getting mad at what essentially is equal to a fanfic.
It is a game. Who cares for historical accuracy?
If the makers of the game want their OCs in historical Japan, then so be it.

Truly, I want to see if Mitsuhide Akechi is still alive at this point but its also possible that he's already dead.

Or if i can have allies besides Yasuke like Hanzo, Tadakatsu or even Toshiie or Keiji.
