"Mob" MC NOT screwing with the supposed plotline

So I had seen a lot of fanfics (see, not read because fanfics irk me) with MC as a "Mob" ie nobody that is in the canon/ not important like the main entourage (another thing that irk me to near or on par with becoming the villain character) and they just shatter the canon plot to smittereens when they end up hogging the spotlight.

In fact, even if said mob MC is in a fictional work ie eroge/ JP LN, I will still find irritation to it as the odd feeling of "it is tainted" surfaces.

Then again, I am the one who asked and answered yes if it is considered stealing by knowing and using future knowledge and power ups belonging to others.

Is there any work that featured MC just living in an IP and have little to no impact of its canon events?

I don't think most fanfic authors can resist inserting themselves into the story.

I have a vague memory of seeing a manga or two with this premise.

I guess there might be some JP IPs that start with "reincarnated into X but don't care for the plot because Y" (if it isn't their whole title), but most fanfic authors do fanfics because they like the characters or cuz they think they'd be a better main/villain/side character, not because they like the worldbuilding and setting
