I've gotten into heavy metal lately, and have been working on gathering a list of recommendations. What kind of man would I be if I didn't have a titanic backlog of things to do that'll I'll get around to in like thirty years? Currently my list of bands is:
Grand Magus
Saxon
Judas Priest
Blind Guardian
Angra
Ingested
Signs of the Swarm
Archspire
fit for an autopsy
thy art is murder
carnifex
whitechapel
Dark Tranquility
Insomnium
Omnium Gatherum
Mors Principium Est
Alcest
Borknagar
Rivers of nihil
at the gates
inherits the void
amon amarth
blasfeme
summoning
Frowning
Imminence
Horde
crimson moonlight
Invent animate
After the burial
The word Alive
Erra
Northlane
Killswitch engage
Powerwolf
Demon hunter
Iron maiden
Blood incantation
Metallica
Opal in the sky
Brothers of metal
beast in black
blind guardian
Kamelot
Do you have any recommendations for me?

Infected Mushroom is like heavy metal/electronia. Been a fan for a while, they're one of the best selling bands in Israeli music history too

you probably might enjoy rock in opposition (RIO) bands like art zoyd and univers zero

tho what i listen a lot more is art zoyd

they're like metal using chamber instruments

magma also has heavy and dark sound despite not strictly metal band, one of my fav albums is udu wudu. my fav songs there are soleil d'ork and de futura.

the other band i recommend is henry cow, particularly their album, western culture. it's some heavy fire mixtape right there.

If you are into guitar work, and have not encountered him yet, I would look into a guy who performs under the name "Buckethead" - other than that, I'm not much of a metal fan myself, but have enjoyed the work of Motorhead and, the metal parodies of Spinal Tap (especially their second album, Break Like the Wind). and the kind of surreal Beatles/Metallica hybrid band Beatallica (who, thanks to a bizarre cease and desist order, can not SELL their work, but can and do give it away, or did last time I checked).

You already have a good selection there, may I add:

Finntroll
Moonsorrow
Orden Ogan
Svartsot
Feuerschwanz
Dark Fortress
Myrkur
Ensiferum
Wintersun
Wolfheart
Be'lakor

ROTTING CHRIST for the love of God.

I wouldn't have put Antti Martikainen in the metal camp but it's fantastic epic music though, so...it passes
