Okay so what if it's not superheroes though? There are plenty of comics that aren't superheroes.your own superhero story, with villains and heroes, could be fun. it would be a welcomed change next to fanfics, where you can come up with your own characters. There are tons of options there:
The list could go on, and it there are many types of genres to write it in, comedy, thriller, action oriented, etc. So yeah, I would say go for it, there is potential there to create something interesting instead of going down on the fanfic route.
- A world where superheroes just start to emerge
- A batman like anti-hero story in a crime filled city
- A world ruled by super heroes or villians
- A world where heroes and villians already exist and a new blood gets introduced into their ranks. (on whichever side)

Okay so what if it's not superheroes though? There are plenty of comics that aren't superheroes.Writing your own superhero story is hard. You got two choices. Go big, or go small. Smaller is easy to start. Spiderman starting out. Batman day 1. The first mutants and the world goes crazy.
Or you go big. For an example of a superhero setting that is big, read my story, I Was Summoned as an example. That is a big world done well. It gives you a street level view of a world gone MAD. And we only scratched the surface. It's got everything and it feels like it. Of course a world with everything would be a nightmare, and so it is. But you git to balance that shit right.
If you need help, let me know. I can fill you in about the setting if you need ideals.
We got foreworld, backworld, naziworld and reverseworld. The four alternate timelines that my setting is in. IWS is set in reverseworld, but I have the fleshed out notes on the other 3.
My definition of a superhero encompasses those like Batman. If we are talking about a marvel/dc style story, as your topic suggested... we are talking about superheroes. Money is a superpower after all. You could write a story from the perspective of someone like J. Jonah Jameson, that would be a fun twist.Okay so what if it's not superheroes though? Oh, no, no, no. I was talking about the animation styles of not just Marvel and DC, but all the others. My definition of a superhero encompasses those like Batman. Okay, sweet! I hope your stories go well.I’m actually kind of doing that right now with gender bending overtones. It’s a series of sort of books. The first one started out in auspiciously with a cursed toilet seat that actually unveiled a spirit entity with powers and two parallel timelines. Then the second one was more of a magical girl power situation and the third has alien motivated regular super powers amongst a group of teenage girls. There’s an over arching villain and an endpoint I have in mind.
Oh. You mean WESTERN Comics.Okay so what if it's not superheroes though? There are plenty of comics that aren't superheroes.
