I am also a big fan of military strategy and action. However, my novel focuses more on a rather strange and troubled family trying to help each other. He ends up becoming a fox girl and has to live with other equally weird girls that appear and try to get along despite their big differences.
The story is about Gender Bender, in which the protagonist (male) is on a personal mission near the end of a continental war in Europe between two factions. The mission goes wrong and he dies, but the angels give him a second chance to come back in exchange for protecting an important object. The rest of the story is about him trying to live with himself, reunite his family with his new life, and try to escape his secret past which is much more important than the continental war.
Two factions are at war, but near the beginning of the story one is defeated, with even its capital occupied, but sooner or later things get moving again.
The story deals with many disparate topics and is quite long, so many things do not make sense at the beginning but little by little are answered in more depth. But I think that's what makes it unique and special.
