It was a fantasy novel and I believe the main characters name was Ren he uses lighting based abilities and if I remember correctly one of them sped up his perception he had a love interest who was the daughter of a demon?? They where friends since childhood and ended up going to a academy together and his grandpa was some crazy cultivator type swordsman who though the mc how to use the sword
