So I've noticed as a story gets really big, meaning lots of chapters it can slow down the views on the newer chapters. I mean stories with many, many chapters. This has to do with people are busy and they can't keep up with where the story is currently at. It also has to do with the fact that if you really like a story you sort of dread having it end.

I'm curious to ask what you do to boost or adapt when this is the case to preserve getting views when the story gets this big? (Because they won't all be near the end of the story... so they are lagging behind.) Should you be doing certain things to keep the views going? Or other ideas?

Just do what you do. There is a high chance of a big spike shortly after you finish the story, as a lot of people will read only those because they are bored of picking a new story just for it to be dropped soon after.
Some readers will lose interest and drop out, while others will pick up in the meantime. That's normal.
Just don't try to fight it, or you might start losing even more readers because the quality of the story will drop.
And newer chapters having more views is normal -- a new chapter is featured on the main site, so people click it (and it gains views) before they go to the index or older chapters. So, basically, they are inflated artificially, and are not a good measurement of how the story does.
On the other hand, slow views on the new chapters are not a bad thing. A lot of readers will wait until they have like 10 or more new chapters and then catch up, so it will even out as time passes.

Yeah, just keep going. A lot of them will set it aside and read something else once they catch up. They'll come back later and do it again.
