Not sure how many of you out there have experience playing the game, Legend of Mana, back from the PS1 era. However, this anime season they apparently made an anime adaptation of it.

What I find most interesting about it is how well it seems to work. As a game, it was weird. It was something of a strange attempt at a "choose your own adventure" style in an action RPG. Story-lines were a little hard to follow, and most of them were one-shot events. However, this somewhat confusing presentation in the game seems to have lent a lot of latitude to the animators doing the adaptation as they stitch these scattered story-threads together into a cohesive plot.

The anime seems to be focusing primarily on the Jumi story-line, which is my personal favorite of the 3 major story-arcs of the game and has a lot that can be leveraged for a good and entertaining anime. So, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with it.

Just thought I would give it a bit of a shout-out because it doesn't seem to be getting that much hype, and I have a bit of an interest due to my experience playing the game in my childhood.

Think you've got your generations off there mate. Boomers were children before video games were even a thing. Gen X, the generation between boomers and millennials, saw the early days of arcades and Atari when they were kids.

Or are you saying that you're a boomer and therefore don't know anything about video-games or anime?

Think the word you're searching for is "expression." An acronym means each letter in the word represents a larger word on it's own. An example of this would be Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation, otherwise known more commonly as "Laser."

What a surprise! Needed to wipe my eyes for a minute there. A Legend Of What anime adaptation now?
Which timeline is this that childhood games of mine are getting anime?
What's next? Terranigma? Breath of Fire? Lufia?
Golly.

The fun thing is that they're still able to do things that can surprise a player of the original game and be considered spoilers, even while perfectly following the story-lines of the game.

Like Black Pearl suddenly making an appearance as early as episode 2

Or when it suddenly introduced the female player avatar in episode 3. I'm sure people who have never played the game before might have even mistaken her for Sandra just like Inspecter Boyd does in the game.

One of my favorite games. The Jumi storyline's also the best one for me.

That to be said, I'm curious how they will adapt the fun stuff like growing weird plants, crafting + programming golems and taming monsters. also taming elementals by playing music.

But yea, I'm also curious on how Niccolo will come up. The bunny merchant gave me several funny moments. I remember adventuring with him quite often beside Elazul and Larc.

Seriously gotta wonder if Larc will even be in the anime at all. I mean, the sub-title of the show is "The Teardrop Crystal," so that clearly means they're focusing completely on the Jumi storyline. Doubt the Fallen Emperor storyline will show up at all. (Fallen Emperor was the most straight-forward of the 3 major storylines, but that's mostly because it was completely isolated from the rest of the world and that also handicapped it a bit and made it less interesting.)

As for Niccolo, from what I've seen so far they seem to be referencing him a lot as though his quests are happening in the background or off-screen while Shilo (the name they chose for the MC) is off doing Jumi-related quests. (That said, he didn't raid the blessed elixir, and I'm not sure how the plot would come back to the Gatto Grottos without pulling the fairy story-line into this.)

Well, looks like episode 6 turned out surprisingly decent. It scrapped the single most frustrating quest in the entire Jumi story-line and replaced it with a completely anime original event.

Interesting how they expanded upon the bit of back-story with Emerelda and her sisters. The 4 of them were all in the game, but this whole dynamic is not something that ever played out. Although, if the game were re-made with a more linear story, I can definitely imagine something exactly like this happening.
