Hi everyone.
I'm new here and i'm writing a novel. I'm italian mothertongue, so i write in my own language. I don't have experience in translation but I read a lot of novels in english, many of these novels are translated using Google Translate.. I don't like it and for my novel I would avoid to use it.
My question is for anyone had experience in publishing: is it good post in my own language? If not, is it good using only Google Translate as tool?
I accept any ideas and suggestions!
Thanks!

You could just try both. Make two separate stories. One being your original language and the other using Google translate with some bare minimum editing. Just Google translate by itself typically isn’t going to cut it. Though there are some masochists out there who read machine translations.

I forgot but only English submissions are accepted on ScribbleHub at least.

With English publication you're given a much bigger potential reader pool.

You don't have to, of course, but my best guess is to use google translate, deepl (which fares a bit better in my opinion, at least to English) or whatever you have convenient access to and get someone at least decently proficient in English to iron out the result.

Put it through google translate and then use a writing tool like Grammarly to help you edit it. It'll fix most errors you'll have. It's not perfect but it will give you decent grammar at least, which is what most people care about.

If you have poor grammar, people will be turned off from your story.

Ideally you will have someone edit the story. But yeah, writing tools are good too

MTL + some additional software such as Grammarly = Is the best advice I could give cus I use them too. Though it's not really fix all your errors such as grammar, of course, the one that readers cares so much. But hey, at least it could give you some fix and improvement.

I would to publish 10 opening chapters as proof, to see the reaction, if I am competent or not. Can I try to publish both in Italian and in English, done with google and fixed a bit, and see what comes out?

Sure, try it out if you feel like it.
