You know when people studied the psychology of why people play video games and such, they didn't always find the answers they wanted. They'd hoped to justify and say it was about addiction and that it was a vice.
But when they got into the research they actually found that part of the draw to TV and video games (and sometimes books) was actually the idea that a person was looking for a SAFE PLACE. A place that wasn't as harsh as the real world.
Now they try to ignore this fact. They want to say its addiction. But I know I'm not addicted to TV and video games. But I do sometimes like to play them. I haven't played them very much this year because I'm trying to be a BUILDER and create. To create safe places and good stories for people like you and the others here to feel safe in. This is part of why I like being a writer so much. I like the idea I'm entertaining people but also giving them a safe place to go to.
This psychology that I mentioned before, the safe place and feel inside an artificial world people were finding that in the real world, people could never find fairness. It was always rigged and then when people would go inside an artificial world like a video game, or whatever... a simulation, they were also finding that people were trying to find a place where people could be successful in their own way.
Well. I'm hoping this might help someone with this thought. As the world gets more crazy we sometimes need a safe place to go to. So I'm happy if some of my stories can help with this.
Hang in there! Don't give up! Stay in the real world (most the time) but its OK if you read a story to take a rest now and then.
