It's been a while since I last posted here, but I thought since I am so proud of posting 100k words and let others know. I am as lazy as it gets so writing 100k words may not be much for many of you here, but for me, it's a great feat. It took me 3 months. So I thought maybe I should ask people if it is really as hard as I feel.

Leave your thoughts down below and don't let me be the only one.

Yeah, it's pretty hard as long as you actually put some thought into it and didn't just slam your keyboard until you reached 100k words. So much could happen in 100k words, you can ruin an entirely good idea in that amount of words if you're not careful. So, yeah, good job!

it took me 2 years to reach 200k words, even KNOWING what I want to write, so that's a hell of a feat from my POV.

I think its depends on what you write. For example, 10k words poem will be a damn chalenges. I expreienced it because in highschool that's my language teacher's favorite punishment for some students.

I mean it depends on the person, if u have well structured plot in your mind , then all you need to do is flesh out the characters and it gets easier, but kudos to you man , I just completed 62k and 57k on my stories, keep the grind up !

It also depends on the quality. It took me ten months to write 80 chapters, each having approximately 2400 words = around 200k words in total. One of the reasons why it was possible is because the quality of my novel is terrible.

Congratulations, that's awesome! :blob_aww:

Also, don't worry too much whether it's hard or easy for others. That depends on so many things, it's hardly something that you can compare between authors. Some people only write down a sentence when they are 100 % sure this is exactly how it is supposed to look like in the final version, others will write first drafts that they rewrite ten times or at least heavily revise to make it into the best version possible. Some stories need a lot of research to be done so it takes longer to actually write since you need to take breaks in between to make sure you get the facts right while other stories can be written just like that or at least with minimal research. Then everyone also has a different amount of time at their disposal, some people only writing once a week or even once a month while others can sit down every day and for a few hours at that.
The important thing is: You made it! And that's awesome for you no matter how hard or easy it would have been for anyone else. You can be proud of yourself :blob_melt:

Give me 1$ for every word and I'll 100K in a month. It'll be half a book though.

I wrote 100k in a matter of 3 months, but it's practically a first draft, as in the quality is pretty bad.

I take it you wrote 100k words of actually quality, and that is the true accomplishment.

Congratulations.

It depends on a lot of factors and about how used you are to writing I'd say~

Like... If you write regularly, don't spend too much editing and proofreading, don't procrastinate too much, and have enough free time on your hands to write daily, then 100k is actually pretty easy.

If your writing is irregular, you often times visit and revisit older chapters to edit them, suffer heavily from procrastination, and is busy with adult life work and responsibilities... Then it's pretty darn hard to write 100k words~

Additionally, how many words you can type per minute also matter, and how easily the text flows for you too, like... A slow typing speed will obviously make it harder to reach 100k words. Additionally, if you often need to take breaks in your typing to think of how exactly you want the next scene to go, that will also make it harder.

Essentially, there are a lot of factors that can make it easier or harder... I'd say Yansu's take on it is the best one. You shouldn't worry about how easy/hard it is for others. Just be proud of your accomplishment and keep moving forward with it~
