For now, purely on first impression, you've got a great premise to build on. You've got a protagonist, a hook, a goal, and an obstacle. There's potential for some solid internal and external conflict. And your leave plenty of room to grant your protagonist agency. That means you're already ticking all the boxes right off the bat.
It will all come down to execution in the end, but it's definitely a solid enough premise to execute on. I'd say go for it.
