It is what it is.The average fanfiction is probably no worse than the average novel, but you never see the average novel. It doesn't get published. The average — or only slightly above average — fanfic does.
*sigh* Novels nowadays are all basically copies of each other. Don't modern authors have any pride?
I can't digest the fact that there are more salted peanuts consumed than caviar... If the public likes you, you're good.
