Is there a way to prevent readers from giving bad ratings without a clear reason?

I saw someone give a bad rating to all my novels even without reading them at all, and now all my novels have bad ratings, which is really frustrating. What’s wrong with my novels? You didn’t even read them! But suddenly, you give a bad rating to all my works, and it makes me very angry. However, honestly, the feeling of sadness is much greater than my anger. I write hard, I try to improve my novels all the time, but suddenly there’s a strange person who hasn’t even read my novels giving bad ratings to all of them—yes, all of them—so now all six of my novels have bad ratings just because of one person who hasn’t read any of my work at all.

I have reported this person, and I have even blocked them, but still seeing the bad ratings on all my novels makes me want to cry.

Unfortunately, what this guy tell is the truth. It's internet. Realistically, all you could do is took control of your own emotions and try to not get swayed over a troll response. I'm not saying your anger holds no importance, but you already did all you could to hold them accountable—reporting. Which, could be easily resolved by creating new account. So it's better to control yourself as to not get dragged into the swamp of negativity, you know? Keep the good work, anon. You'll adapt in no time.

You will get them no matter what you do. Even if this one gets deleted, another person will still rate it 1 star. The more popular you become, the higher the odds of running into them based off statistics.

You deleted your stories? Don't do that. They win when you delete them.

Unfortunately, most people won't take the time to give a reason but when they do, it could either be the most enlightening thing in the world or rather soul crushing.

Yeah, as others said, you must get used to it.

It will happen a lot, and nobody can do anything about it. I wish we would only have a steam-like system with either thumbs up or thumbs down... It would be much more preferable to the five-star rating system.

Sadly no. The only way I see this being improved is to force a comment to be added before ratings can be added, which is a feature already suggested. Don't know if it will ever be added. It happens to a lot of us: we feel your pain.

Doesn't this only apply to "reviews?" If it is only the rating with no review, how does one go about proving it to be frivolous?

I would assume a mod can track who made the 1 star and check their other ratings easily enough. Fro mthere its easy enough to draw a conclusion if they are a troll or not.

NOTHING is anonymous anymore. even the stuff you think helps make you anonymous, like VPNs, constant cache clearing, and anti-spyware just changes your trail slightly, it doesn't make it disappear.
That's why I poke fun at 'secret identities' in my books.
