Is it true that reviews help a novel to reach Trending? What else helps?

I've been writing here for over a month and I don't understand how this system works. My best position in the ranking was 260, I think it was after a reader favorited many of my chapters.

I think it's safe to assume some kind of points system is used. Views probably give you one point each, then favorites, comments, and reviews give you a lot more. None of this is confirmed though, just speculation.

Personally, I find that having a lot of comments works.
Usually two days (seems like a processing period) after I had a relevant increase in traffic, I got into trending.
Of course, I can't tell how true that is, but I had for example a longer discussion between two of my readers that increased my usual 10 comments per chapter to 36.
Two days later: Trending!
So I'd say, it happens if your story suddenly gets more attention + processing time.
I even think it can work with a double chapter post if both are getting their attention from the audience. At least, that was what happened to me once.
It might also depend on your usual average of traffic and might have different benchmarks to hit to trigger trending, depending on if you usually have many or few views.
For a new story, getting a few hundred views during the starting phase, while having enough chapters to be clicked, works as well. At least new stories of popular authors who have no trouble finding their audience through a settled fanbase can be quite certain to get into the upper reaches of the trending list when they're getting started. After this, it's a bit of its own dynamic for some time, as bring in trending with a new story guarantees more traffic the next day, which gets you into trending, repeat, repeat...
Though one shouldn't forget that one is in competition with all the other stories. So if many others fulfill those criterias as well one wouldn't get as high.

Trending might be random. lol

I once saw a story with 12 chapters that hadn't been updated in a month somehow reach trending.
You need to give my story a one-star rating.
110% of forum users agree this is true.
Well, now I don't wanna do it!

One of my stories hit trending for about four hours. I have no clue why, nor why it fell off of trending so quickly either.
