Is an MWF schedule a bad idea?

For those who don't know, it means I only post new chapters every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Now, I'm just kinda contemplating if this wasn't as good as a schedule as I thought it would be. It might make people forget I'm writing a book at the end of the week, and I've only posted 7 chapters so far.

Looking at my stats, Fridays are damn quiet days with consistently the fewest reads. I release M/W/F/S/S. If you were only looking at three, I'd swap Friday for Saturday or Sunday.

Yeah, but the last time I posted on a Friday, the views were pretty good. It's just that now that I posted a new chapter back at midnight today, it's still at 0 views. However, I've heard it's because view count only updates if someone bothers to give a rating or favorite or whatever.

I post Tuesday and Friday (roughly - sometimes a little early, sometimes a little late depending on other stuff) and that seems to have worked well for one story but not for the other two.

Posting chapters 3 times a week is amazing; as long as you aren't getting burnt out, then I'd say it's great.

There are fewer readers on the weekend; people get busy doing all the things they couldn't do. People might check the story on Monday and read the Friday chapter and the Monday chapter together. Don't get too caught up on when they show up; just be consistent, and they'll appreciate it.

I don't read into it too much. I find that Friday releases, while themselves get low viewership compared to say, Monday and Wednesday, get a lot more views over the weekend (with a spike usually on Saturday). That means most readers who get a "Friday Chapter" pretty much read it Saturday, maybe in the morning, maybe at night. If you release on Saturday proper, some of those readers won't get it that day, and might wait until Sunday.

The most important part by far is keeping a set schedule. If you're really looking to min-max viewer spikes, then you have two options. Avoid the weekend, and post when people in your audience would already be on the website, leading to a quick spike (Monday-Thursday as available days, and something like 6:30 PM US East time), or post so that the largest number of your days overlap with US holidays (Which happens to be Mondays and Fridays).

My stats from the past seventeen days. Three lowest bars are Fridays. Significant impact over the weekend. Did you know you can see these stats on your stories too? Go to 'Create' then hit the 'Stats' button on the far right; this is a different page than the 'Statistics' tab on your story (which anyone can view). Also bear in mind that the day's stats reset at midnight your time (I believe), and therefore if you post a new chapter late in your evening, much of the impact will roll into the following day.
