I've noticed that when I add a new chapter, the view count of the book jumps up by a dozen or so within minutes. Maybe even less than a minute. The book is new. It doesn't have any "readers" and only two favorites. So I very much doubt a dozen people are jumping into it as soon as a new chapter released. Does this mean there are bots reading my drivel? :-)

It depends.
Do you refresh your own chapters a few times? Those views might register. Also, with around 5k avg readers, it’s likely they’ll click your latest chap update on the front page. Completely normal. Maybe your cover is just catchy.

I am pretty certain that the Scribble Hub counts you viewing your own story as a view.

However, I doubt it counts recurring views as well. Hence, from the whatever amount of views your chapters get, only one is always yours.

They are certainly a few bots, but I couldn't say how many.

There is a good chance many views are valid. With the entire system revolving around the latest updates, the stories recently updated are bound to get some views, even from people who wouldn't like it afterwards.

I frequently browse and click the recently updated list rather than most other search options.

Im probably not the only one.
