Am I the only one who doesn't see much issue with it? o_o
I mean, I get to have pessimistic thoughts quite often, but that's part of an overactive mind that is allowed to have them, or at least -- to dwell on them.

I feel like humans can be trained for anything including doublethink, so to speak. And focusing solely on optimistic thoughts doesn't seem to be that implausible especially if there are constant rewards for that and constant punishments for the opposite.
Essentially, isn't it just like a Pavlov's dog thing??? It's not nice to view oneself in this manner but it's not an issue either. We are conditioned to think and believe many things without even realizing anyway. But at least this one gets you cute rewards for it ^^.
At some point, it's got to sink into being a reflex, so it would stop bothering me at that point altogether...
1. Probably a couple of months getting used to it, then it would sink into my new subconscious.
2. Nothing much... I am pretty aware of a lot of conditioned things I've been taught as a kid and now, so... it's just one more.
3. O_O I guess smiling at them, too? Shyly, of course. If you do it too intensely or for too long a time --

. Likewise, if I get paid 100$ for making people smile, just spend this money on fricking gifts/flowers/cupcakes -- and then make free giveaways for new smiles! Then, after you get a smile for each cupcake -- you get more 100$ and you just make you own Smile Business Empire from that. Seems to easy; I'd be a billionaire within those couple of months getting used to the curse +_+. The fact which II would use for charity and stuff and get even more smiles in return (we can get entire Olympic stadiums to gather smiles more efficiently) -- and I'll get myself drunk on power of optimism to save the world.
4. Being conditioned works wonders ^^. Besides, I can see a lot of loopholes with the premise of what constitutes negative, so...
