Since it's only editing and you actually completed them, in my opinion, you can't really abandon them.

It's nice that you'll still refine/edit them, but I think you did your job as an author, and you should be proud of yourself. I really respect authors who finish their works and do not immediately dump their story if they don't get popular. I hate people who chase fame that desperately and abandon their readers.
