So like the title says, I think I just got rating bombed... I checked my statistics about 3 hours ago and I was sitting on 80 ratings as I have been for the last few weeks because I haven't put out a new chapter or been active for a while, but I checked my story again just now and I've gotten 3 new ratings since I last checked about 3 hours ago. All 3 of the new ratings were 1-star and it kinda sucks because my overall rating dropped too. My views were also stagnant like usual, so it kind of seems like someone just made 3 accounts and gave me some 1-star ratings... Is there anything I can do about it or do I just have to live with it?

Let @Tony know. He's the site creator and he's usually kind enough to delete troll ratings for people.

Well, I mean I spent a lot of time and effort on my story, and it just feels bad to see 1-star ratings on something I worked so hard on, especially troll ones. I understand that my story might not be for everyone and some people might actually dislike my story enough to give it a 1-star rating, which is fine. If 3 people actually just disliked my story that much, I can live with that, but this really feels like someone randomly just decided to give me some troll ratings. Maybe it's a bit egotistical of me, but I'll admit that I like seeing a good overall rating on my story. It makes me feel like the time and effort I put into my story was worth it. I guess props to you though for having the confidence to not care about this kind of stuff.

I can see why you're upset, but if you enjoyed writing it as much as people enjoyed reading it, then with that feeling alone could make you feel better.

That's true. I really appreciate my readers and I try my best to interact with them in the comments. It just sucks though to get troll ratings since the person who gave you them probably didn't even give your story a chance.

On a lighter note though, nice meme! :blob_happy:

But yeah 1* rating sucks. It felt like you didn't do your assignment in writing your story.

Though I wish I could believe mine to be just a troll 1*, I think it's not. Oh well, it's a part of an author's life, I guess.

Well, if that's the case, I guess we'll just have to continue and do our best to bury that 1* among a flurry of 4* and 5*.

But yeah, it's better if we just enjoy and continue writing. Ratings are just a bonus. ??

Indeed. Even I struggle with ratings from time to time.

But then, we enjoy writing, that's why we write. If we let ratings affect us, not only do we begin to despair for better rates, we also lose our identity as authors in trying to please everyone.

Someone out there would love your work as it is. Just do your best in writing, and keep on doing it because it's fun for you.

(I bestow the title Trivago on you. Just call me by my name ?. Sensei is a bit...high for someone like me, though I'm a teacher irl)
