I'm trying to change up the cover for my story, but I need help bouncing around some ideas for what could fit. It's a smut action character focused journey following a young peasant named Felix caring for a cat girl named KuliKuli. She suffers memory loss and is grateful to start a new life with her new master, but as their relationship grows closer, her haunting past creeps up and their relationship is challenged in life-altering ways as a bigger scheme threatens to change the world.
I have a few ideas, but first some negative prompts. I am not sure if a simple cover of KuliKuli would suffice as although she's the main protagonist, the cover would seem generic and fall in the background of a collection of novels that feature attractive anime style women. Maybe a cover that features both her and Felix, but that might also fall to the category of being bland.
My initial idea is a bit ambitious; it would have KuliKuli and Felix in the foreground, atop a wide-open book (serving as the ground for them). The book has this magical aura stemming from the pages and surrounding the couple, like it's creating this image that shows them inside in a back-to-back pose of them looking alert, as if they were in danger. There would be spears, swords and arrows aimed at them, and the background outside of this image would be a beautiful starry sky with 2 pearly white moons and one full red moon. The red moon contains a silhouette of a tower watching down on the young couple.
Why the book manifesting the image of the duo? This is book 1 of a series of stories that share the same world, inspired by the medieval time period. The world isn't like ours as evident by the 3 moons which are mentioned more than once throughout the story, and they do play a role beyond setting and world-building. The red moon is a vital point that impacts the story, and the looming tower is where the threat to the pair originates from and is the setting where the climax takes place. They have weapons pointed at them because she's a cat girl, categorized as a monster girl in this world. Monster girls aren't welcomed to put it mildly x)
This is the image I feel most confident in wanting for my cover, but it might be too much to fit in one image, especially for Scribblehub. I am asking for ideas on what could work well for a cover for my story, something not too generic, a picture that tells a story, one that grabs a reader's interest. Any ideas or questions are welcomed, please. I'm coming to you guys because I'm alone on this writing journey, my friends can't really help much, they try though and I love them for it.
