I just finished rewriting a chapter

I just finished rewriting the second chapter of my novel I wrote 9 months ago, and found many plot errors and dialogue was terrible. I spent 3 hours editing it, and now I feel confused.

I have only one question in my mind: what did I smoke to write such poorly constructed sentences? I remember writing that when I was relatively free on my job, and was motivated to write because I had nothing to do.

Eh, whatever. 2 down, 18 to go. God help me.

Common thing

It's like "why my young self did that at that time !??"
It happens very commonly to anyone

In fact you often see in urban chinese novels, the characters mentioning regrets etc

Even more common : typos
Like you type a sentence, you look back, you discover sometimes typos you clearly dont remember doing.

More obvious when doing long paragraphs.
That is why editors / proofreaders is a thing. And teachers educating "re-check your work when you are done when you got free time in the test"

Same thing happened to me, i hate with passion my first chapter, but i cant just change it now because the plot would be ruined.

Ain't it great to feel that you are getting better now? Don't let the mistake weigh you down, only those who never try anything never make them. Make your mistakes, fix them, and keep growing into a better person.

Don't think of it as you being bad back then. Think of it as you being better now.

It'd be way worse if you went back and you didn't notice any difference to what you're writing now.

People kept talking about smoking stuff. That is very misleading. Just because you smoked something, doesn't mean you'd get crazy inspiration. Ai-chan smoked some beef last week and all it gave Ai-chan was a belly-ful of delicious smoked meat.

Though on a related note, Ai-chan is still looking for Salvia Divinorum. It's not illegal, but nobody's selling them. So weird. Don't suggest ebay. Living plants can't go through customs.

Ai-chan also should rewrite some stuff, but Ai-chan prioritizes new chapters more. The rewrites are for monetization anyway.
