I just attended my first funeral, and I was terrified

I didn't want to make another thread since I'm ready to delete my account, but I just couldn't get this off my chest.

It was surreal, and I mean "blood rushing down your body" surreal. He was my great uncle on my mother's side, and the fact that the last time I saw him upright was only a few months ago still fucks me over as we speak. We never interacted much, but he taught me how to feed cattle in his ranch once.

Seeing his embalmed corpse laying there in the casket made me feel like he could just open his eyes and get up. Not to mention the way his wife bawled her eyes out on the glass opening. It was beyond haunting.

Had to attend my grandma's funeral a year ago. I never had a good relationship with her (she preferred to stay in her room watching tv pretty much the whole day) but I'll admit it was pretty sad to see her.

I accidentally saw my grandma getting embalmed and it terrified me until this day. Ever seen a butcher slice open a goat's/pig's/cow's stomach? That's how I saw it back then.

That's when I realized that human beings are just pieces of meat, and it is both terrifying and sad.

Cry

Release your sadness

Lament your situation

Emotional release is necessary

People don't like seeing other in pathetic condition, but it's not like people would like to see other people taking shit and vomiting.

They usually hate when other people vomit nearby, but they're not the one feeling the emergency urge to throw up.

They definitely never encounter situation when someone failed to poop, urinate, fart, or vomiting, and ends up seeing a sudden dead body nearby.

But they always see other people hold their cry and sadness, thinking it's cool to not be "whiny" about it, but failed to realize the necessity of it.

It's the situation when someone tries to reduce their spending by eating shit quality food and sleep less to work more, only to ends up in hospital and wasting all of their saved money.

Or like someone who tries their best to not cry and hold their emotion, and ends up having a grudge and deep depression ten years down the line.

My serious advice :
Ask for mental health consultant,
It's worth it

The Romans had a great saying, "Memento Mori", or in English "Remember Death". You will die. You may die young at any moment, or grow old to the point you know more people who have died than are alive. Many people live their lives for pleasures, but life is a zero sum game. You will experience an infinite amount more misery and anguish than you will happiness. This is why you need to find God.
