Meh, i think the start is fine. But yes. More work is needed.

Moderate offense but I stopped reading after the son was beaten to death. I liked how it was going but the grammer is horrible even by SH standards. Run it through an AI or smth and tell jt to edit your grammagical mistakes or use grammarly or something at least.
As a reader I simply feel disrespected when the author doesn't do even that bare minimum of editing work
