I hate it when my "original" idea turns out to be generic as hell.

I was thinking about writing a story about a healer in a fantasy medieval world, thinking there aren't too many of these being written right now (by "these," I mean fantasy stories without isekai nor dungeon elements, lol). After working on some character sheets and possible plot points, I realized. "Fuck, this is just a fantasy version of Dr. House."

Feel free to copy my idea. I lost interest once I realized I'm not original at all.

Isn't there a bunch written in Japanese? Like the ones where the healer goes and takes revenge, self heals, creates miracle cures, carries the team, etc.?
What's important isn't about how original it is. It's the writing. The setting can be the same, characters can be the same, but the actions, consequences, events, flow, are what draws readers.
For example if there's the readers that want to read healing. It's fine for a few to be overpowered, but it gets repetitive.

Tldr. Carve out your own niche, or improve on the category. Fresh doesn't always mean good.

First time?

Wait, healer, fantasy world, done before? Redo of Healer?
My story was going to have no Isekai, litrpg, vr, levels, adventurers guild, dungeoneering, etc. It was going to be a grounded fantasy, not an "I'm too lazy to worldbuild" fantasy. That's why I believed it'd be different.

Make the story interesting and fun for the readers as well as for yourself.

There has been a continental ton of shitty punchy punchy CN works and I still managed to enjoy littles of them. Why? Because of:

1. Fun and sometimes unique ways of body tempering, ie skin, meat, sinew, bone, blood, organs, acupoints,

2. Fun and sometimes unique ways of murder, ie kitkating, MK style, why are you hitting yourself etc

There is a jp webnovel
that is totally unknown as there is no lot translation, no adaptation, its slightly old = its pre-era of "Party expulsed" trend
where jp MC is a surgeon isekaied in fantasy.

I think its on NU and had a cool white cloak or something. Though i vaguely remember dude wore a hawaii shirt or something (but maybe it was pre-isekaied as he is quite arrogant (in a good kind) with skills backing it up)

No link,no name. Forgot.

tldr : Your idea was already done by a jp writer before
and no one gave a f about it despite being cool as like Dc. House (and even a likeable similar arrogance)

Well only if they approach it with a modern mindset, medieval pharmacology was really primative so even if the healer knows what is wrong the pharmacist might use honey faecal matter and arsenic in the cure.

I think it's fine as long as the diseases and cures are fantasy versions too, just funny witty stuff that makes readers doubt a bit. I've read in Doctor Player where MC used Berserk Spell to increase blood flow.
Cause JP Medieval Healing Fantasy Stories tend to end up with just "Heal", "High Heal", "Dispel", "Cleanse". Their Healing Magic is closer to Time-Reversal.
The Irregular in Magic HS at least knows that there's no such thing as Healing Magic.

I remember someone once telling me that what makes a likeable story are recognisable patterns that make reader feel involved, so so called clishé could actually be good if used properly.
I Am in love with themes of spies. I watched and read probably everything there is to it and thanks to James Bond and such there are a lot of clishés to spy things too and since I've seen a lot of them there isn't really much originality in it too. But nicely told story is a nicely told story. Not being always original doesn't make a bad storyteller.

Your damn right it was. All my story ideas have gratuitous smut. It wouldn't get professionally published.

Yes, that was the reason I went with fantasy rather than a realistic medieval setting.

Correct. Many stories are too primitive with their healing. While I did plan on using some spells (possibly things like "disinfect" to clean my character before a surgical procedure or have some spells that help find a diagnosis), I was also planning on making some fictional herbalism and alchemy to not solve every problem instantly with an OP spell.

Not being always original doesn't make a bad storyteller.
I hope so.

Do not make me remember that.

It's not even a good sauce to dip and its casts are way too brutal or too pragmatic.

It's...

I have two wolves inside me. One is kind and compasionate and the other is a sadistic SOB who wants to make you suffer.

And they are both retarded.
Me when- Me when- Me when... Wait.

Who the crap are you??!

Where's mah lovely nationally-praised symbol of peace?
