At least the first draft is a novella, but I have the full intention of adding things. As for the twelve-step plan I made with the fellow Scribble Hubbers... yeah, that ended up lost, forgotten, ignored, and not used.
Just pantser things!
Anyway, I managed to do it because I asked myself how I can bring writers to my coop room, and then it hit me! Almost everyone had that one quest where one had to do extreme battles. (This is a quest for 4thewords. No, I am not making any promotion for it. Just mentioning it for clarification.) And then it hit me! What if we do the extremes with that easy as fudge monster, which wanted just 360 words in 7 minutes? Almost everyone who would try something like that had an attack of 100+, which means that every word would count as two.
Long story short, the room filled up. I finished the novella. Now my brain is on a happy-go-lucky dopamine high. Ah, the good stuff hits just right.
