Honestly, it depends where, and of course, the quality of your novel. No use reaching out for those extra three readers if you have to waste your time posting chapters on so many places. I would recommend only RR, SH, and Webnovel. Yes, Webnovel. Not a great site, blah blah blah, but you'd get a lot of readers there, regardless of how good your novel is.

You're free to go ahead and do it, since that would probably mean you'll get a more varied (and maybe bigger) readership.

Nothing bad comes from not having all your eggs in the same basket.
yeah but do you really wanna update at three to four different places each time? And if you update often, that's even more annoying. And if you find mistakes in the content later on, you have to fix them in all these other places too. I hated that, so i got lazy and didn't edit the mistakes out in all the places i uploaded chapters at. Then i just stopped carrying and only started updating in like 2 places.

also depends on what that website caters to. It's unlikely that a Xianxia novel would do well at Wattpad, for example.
My incest smut novel, as another example, doesn't get much feedback here. But at Inkitt? A smaller reader base, but a bit more active in comments. And they put EMOTION into those comments. Inkitt is all about smut and romance so the novel fits there.

But my other stories? No. I Doubt my villainous sister type of story or my yandere dating system story would get much attention there.

I'd say the best approach would be to only have two and at most three places you post, to be honest.

I guess you could always upload in more and see which sites fit better your usual writing, which are getting more readers and feedback and all.

I can understand the laziness, since I am too lazy to upload in one, let alone two, sites.

Exactly. In fact, only scribblehub has all of my novels. Webnovel has my main, and my incest story, but that's about it. And only cuz I created that smut one there first.
Speaking of, I been updating that one more recently and completely forgot to add the next chspters to webnovel.

Well then. Excuse me

I personally post on scribblehub, royal road, and webnovel. It hasn't been much of a hassle and I get plenty of readers. If you want to do it then go ahead. Not things stopping you. A bit of warning though. Don't ever post of Wattpad. It's worse than any other site. Not user friendly at all.

This is the truth right here. I only personally post on SH RR & WN. Annoyingly my stories get posted elsewhere by bots & shit, but those three sites are the ones you wanna post on.

That's currently my plan, just to see where my demographics are. My upcoming isekai is being posted in numerous sites to get used to their platforms and see what kind of feedback I get before I post my upcoming age gap romance. To me, posting on multiple sites are about data collecting and finding out the demographics of the site. It might even lead to finding out if I can get some tips with KoFi or Patreon.

If you want to put in the work, then go for every site you can, but if you just want to write for your own pleasure, just pick a few places you like and see what you can get from them, then decide if this is something you want to do with other sites.

Really? That is pretty interesting. Heard webnovel was a lot worse from others around here.
Then again, I haven't gone back to Wattpad since that breach long ago.

Inkitt does sound like where wattpadders transition to and bring their romance stories with them.

If you want more publicity for your story, yeah as many suggest go for it. You can also look and compare how one story's reception is like across several different sites, esp. since each site has caters to different group of popular genres.
