Can't help you with the romance stuff but I can help with the child-raising stuff as the oldest of 10. First of all, they are going to make lots of mistakes(the parents, not the baby. It's a baby. If they make mistakes then it's on the parents). The mother will most likely be very tired after the birth with a fair bit of emotional issues due to imbalanced hormones. Write it with patience as emotional outbursts will happen at the drop of a pin but never without reason. For example, seeing something really cute and it triggering tears. Have her SO comfort her unless if you want the SO to be a selfish ass. The hormone imbalance usually only lasts 2-3 weeks. After that, the baby may start to take in its surroundings but it won't be able to go anywhere so it will mainly sleep, nurse(It will do this a lot), and poop. Crawling usually starts between 4 and 6 months depending on the baby. Once they begin to crawl certain items will have to be put up and certain doors kept shut. Stairs should also be covered with a gate. they will cry if anything is wrong but most issues babies have involve being uncomfortable in some way, shape, or form. Being hungry, being tired, having gas, and pooping will all result in crying. Hell, sometimes fixing the issue may result in crying because taking care of the problem made them temporarily more uncomfortable.
