How to not be on the nose with issues?

My characters are crossing into another dimension. However, they will be targeted for being humans, teenagers, and 'picked' to stop chaos elements. I don't want people to think I'm going to be thick with social issues. Prior to the story, humans were brought to that world before, twice.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you want me to answer. :blob_pat_sad:

If you want to avoid social issues just don't mention them. Humans are a race; there is nothing wrong with them being targeted for being humans. Their age doesn't matter either. Picked chosen aren't an issue either. Just a story stereotype.

where ever they show up, have any of the people that see them stare, whisper, be overly kind or demanding like a over privileged customer at a super market line. Have people come to them for odd jobs or to stop a fight in a bar.

Some people might be rude maybe because they see them as replacements or heard stories about the last humans being bad. Governments might be aggressive to get them or stop them. Some might even send spys to learn about their plans or technology, maybe assassins because their ideas are dangerous.

You could easily have some lore around destroyed cities they they travel through only to later learn a human caused that. Maybe they find some things being recreated in this world for their old one. Maybe they demonize the himans or worship them.
