hello I'm new to the world of writing a story and I would like some tips, the story I'm doing involves an Alien arriving on earth and living there, but I'm not very good with descriptions and making characters' personalities work and other details so I wanted to know where i can do research to improve (I had to use translator to help me, sorry for mistakes)

There is no such thing as a guide to doing research, you have to look for what you think serves you better. Look in Wikipedia for info about first contact, read other stories about first contacts, use what serves you better. And about character personalities, you can make character profiles for your characters to help you.

As for grammar mistakes, you can use Grammarly or ProWritingAid, both are simple and easy-to-use Chrome extensions that will help you a lot with English as Google Translate is far from perfect.

Hope this helps you.

Wikipedia is your go to. Then if something piques your interest, you can do additional research via google, your local library, or from the books available to you.

Additionally, you can also watch documentaries on Youtube.

Edit: Oops, my bad. I got lost in the title.

In any case, you can read a few novels and get some techniques on how tyhe author unravels his/her narrative.

In my case, aside from narration, I also use dialogues to describe the events, places, and characters.

A neat trick with Wikipedia is to go to the cited sources at the bottom of the page. Leads to lots of good sites and pdfs with information that might not be in the article. Only problem is a lot of the links are old and will 404.

No worries always good info to know. It’s a good tip for writing essays as well, a bunch sources gathered together. Or alternatively use Wikipedia and quote their sources if you feel extra dubious.

I personally try to imagine what it would be like, so i can provide a description to everyone i write to what i think it would be like.

for example if an alien comes to earth where would it land? does it breathe air? is it carbon based? Why is it here? all that jazz.
