In the story I am preparing there's going to be this cult, and I don't know how people would refer to them colloquially.

Every member has green and red heterochromatic eyes that can't be hidden, that's their key physical characteristic.

They aren't feared or hated, but they aren't liked.

I was thinking two-eyes or glowies, but I wanted something more original.

Chrismas-themed names don't work because the setting doesn't have Chrismas.

EDIT: I have the official name of the cult, I want some ideas for how people would refer to them colloquially. In an informal setting.

Blight would imply that the people see them negatively.

I guess "Red-eyes" would do. I'm thinking only of red coz the color would easily make more impression than green. Red-eyes are quite 'neutral', yet exudes a 'freaky' implication.

Or just simply, "Reds".

well the most obvious answer would be, if it was only red OR green instead of both would be to refer to them as gemstones. Like jades or rubies.

Like "hey, look at that Jade/Ruby over there" or whatever. It could still fit if you have them wear masks that cover their red or green eye for whatever symbolic reason you wanna throw in. Cuz calling them the Crimson-Jade Lads is a bit of a mouthful lol

"Irris" or "Irrits" can also be used, I guess?

We're talking of colloquial here, so I'm thinking of colloquial nicknames. "Irris" or "Irrits" are short for "irritated eyes", which the people refer to the cultists' red eyes (which makes more impression than the green one).

Kinda like how most people here call others with bloodshot eyes "addicts" even though no one's doing illegal drugs.

"Those stupid Colcins" (a shortened version of Colored Candles-->Colcands-->Colcans--->Colcins). Another could be "strawberries" for the leaves and the fruit, or "sparkles" (like colored fireworks/sparklers. If they aren't at that technological level, "lantern-faces" could also works)

I think Colcands can work too, since it's easier to say. Colloquials tend to shorten stuff for ease of saying anyway.

Colcands is easier to say that Colcins? It felt slightly more difficult. I originally had colcands but I was worried it would look less natural on its own, more obviously a combination of words, and just slightly harder to say, which, when you are trying to say something with as much venom as possible, it's more about the snappiness and sheer hate behind it.
But that's just personal tastes, which can be influenced by all kinds of things, from personal accents or normal word choices.

I mean Colcands and Colcins, that's why I put in the 'can work too'. Kinda like how I call @SailusGebel SaiGe instead of LusBel; yep, it's matter personal pref. ?

(Also, LusBel sounds like a name for a cow... :sweating_profusely: :sweating_profusely: :sweating_profusely: )

Well when red and green are mixed it produces brown. So brown cult.
brown is the color of shit. Call them the Shits cult as a running insult. Make them fuckers SO mad.
"No, shut up! We aint shit!"

Traffic lights?

If they are white, you can also call them italians.

Would call them guyanese if they're asian but guyanese are mostly brown.

RG's. 'Argies'. Depends on if you have computers with RGB coloring though. I'm not sure it would come out naturally otherwise.

Chromies, Hets( :sweating_profusely: ), Glasses, cat/devil/evil/dark/night/spirit-eyes.

This is too hard. Probably easier to make a name based on their actions, ideals or just random insults.

Unless people publicly know that this cult only has members with red and green eyes, the eyes glow, or the members are literally giant red and green colored eyeballs, this is not the most relevant way for how to describe them.

If they aren't liked, they are probably referred to as "that weird cult that appeared a month ago and makes weird howling sounds at night in the abandoned church."
