I honestly have no idea how to find or create decent art for my stories that I've been working on. If anyone has ANY tips or advice that would be awesome.

Art is a very broad term. It depends on what you want to show and your standards tbh. If you just want to visualize your characters, then a simple picrew can do the job. If you're picky and want a special artstyle, a breathtaking background, or need something never done before (sci-fi/fantasy), then you need to look for an (concept) artist.

You could always reference to pictures.

The DIY art route is something I'd only recommend if you have passion for art or a lot of time...otherwise set aside a little money aside to afford to commission an artist.

Finding art is a tedious way. Search an artist and go through their follow list. Artists follow other artists. Join discord art servers to appreciate art or ask for artists that might have the art you're looking for. There are often artists on varying levels searching for OCs to practice on.

Literature existed for ages without art attached, it will continue into the future that way. Don't sweat it. If you feel something MUST have visual representation, search Google Images, Bing Images or Pinterest for one or more graphics that look close, see if they are Copyright Free (if they are not, do not use them unless you intend to pay for their use). If they are, edit or combine graphics until you have what you want, r something "close enough" and go with it.

If you are asking this, I'm guessing you don't have the money to Commission an artiest, so the fastest way in this age is going to be AI. I use Sora AI when I'm making character reference art and cover designs.
