How many chapters after a reader might give up?

Some of my readers are people I have voice chats with when playing Heroes of the Storm. They are so shocked to hear a feminine voice that they'll bow down and worship at her feet. However, once they see I have over fifty chapters, they get scared. Keep in mind these are often people who don't typically read anything longer than a meme, though.

I dunno if I should be more amazed at their reaction to your voice, or by their reaction to your number of chapters...

I think WMW had 1000+ chapters. That was an interesting read, but I was young and naive when I read that one.

Pretty sure I wouldn't read a similar novel any time soon.

I'm still waiting for another one.

Just to add to the discussion, One Piece is fucking amazing for lasting this long and still remain this good. Though the plot's slow fucking pace does factor heavily into it but still. How Oda does it baffles me to this day

dang...if i ever found a story with 1000+ chapters that i was at all interested in i'd be on that so fast. but as to the real question, idk every reader is different. Hopefully by the time you've got a couple dozen chapters you'll have a solid reader base that will follow you through. Along the way you should probably expect some more people to hop on board but maybe fewer as the sheer amount of chapters climbs.
