How does the trending work?

This post is just for curiosity's sake, and I hope nobody takes it wrongly. If it goes against regulations, admins are free to take it down as they see fit.

I sometimes see works with lower daily views than mine being featured repeatedly, and rarely works that absolutely crush mine in daily views...

Therefore I wondered what ScribbleHub takes as parameters to place different novels in the trending list.

My novel: Heaven, Earth, Me

No, no...something like this isn't against the rules...you can talk about it.

The answer, however, is no. No one knows, other than our lord Tony, the creator of the site who keeps it a closely guarded secret so that no one abuses or "games outc the mechanism.

But, like all algorithms, the Trending algorithm is tied to number of chapters posted per week, how regular your schedule is, number of views per unit time. That per unit time is important, so remember it is normal for a 400 view novel to be on trending if it got that many view within a short period while a 2k views novel might not be there.
I hope nobody takes it wrongly
Also, I am wondering, how did you teach this conclusion? What did you expect? Or rather, how do you expect anyone to take this wrongly?

Did you think people would just go, "stop asking stupid questions and start writing better, you dumb idiot?"
Oh, and another factor which is important is having a good cover. This doesn't directly pleases the algorithm, but it attracts the readers. So do take time making a cover and even a prologue.

to put it simply, no one knows how the heck trending works... aside from Tony. All we know is that it's good to be on it. My advice would be to calmly continue writing your works, without minding it too much. If you get up there on trending, congratz! If not, go on with your daily schedule.

this is a secret which gets buried every time after people tells the same thing to each other - "it's magic."
And I say - "Just believe" - in your novel.

I have done a surprising amount of research on the trending algorithm and discussed it with some other authors. I won't disclose all the info but my biggest suggestion would be to lower your upload amount to 3-4 a week rather than daily. Trust me you will find yourself trending in no time.

I think it depends on the frequency of your update and the popularity of your story. If you update regularly, your chance is higher in both getting more recognition and promotion. So just write a good story and update regularly (yeah, I’m not really one to talk~ lol). But seriously, though, no one really knows how it works. I can only speculate from what I’ve observed so far.

Do you want to know how the trending works? It works on magic, so if you desire to get your place high above, you better start paying your SH taxes, the currency is chocolate coins, and be ready to pay the great price... Giving all of @K5Rakitan stories a one-star rating.

Can't help but be a bit of suspicious of this.

You need to offer a live chicken to sacrifice in front of SH's homepage. Make sure your mouse is hovered to the words "Trending"

Next say the words, "Rararasputin, lover of the russian queen."

And that's it.

Just a guess, maybe percentage change in traffic and other statistics. Like for my story, my readers are mostly binge readers, so they shelve my story when a volume is ongoing, then come back when the volume has ended. So I'm going to like chill traffic, to a burst of traffic and other stats when a volume ends. This has happened when my previous volume ended, and it happened again when my current volume ended a couple of days ago. This might also explain why it's more common for new stories to be there since it'll be the new stories that'll have a burst of growth in stats compared to old stories like mine that are steady. Just my wild speculations with my own experience.

If this is true... It would be quite a bummer. Shouldn't stories with more regular uploads be on there? Well, it is what it is. I've already been top one on trending three times, so it is not like I can complain hahaha.

I asked yesterday and today I'm fourth in trending O.o

Pretty rare for me to get there because I have an old story.

I used to upload daily and almost never hit the front page (only once) but once I slowed my upload schedule I found myself on the front page every 3 days for 3 weeks straight. I believe it has something to do with the algorithm wanting to see how many views your story achieves on a day you don't upload. However, your stats are so good that you will manage to force yourself on there occasionally anyways.
