More than once, I've seen books on here with over 100+ chapters! Even 200+ chapters. HOW? How are they able to keep producing so many chapters? Is there a skill to it or do they combine different stories? What's the standard? Please give me the 411 :blob_popcorn::blob_aww:?

Dude whats a 411. They post a lot of chapters because they have a strong work ethic, and are very consistent. But don't worry, I used to be some NEET loser generating like 200 words a day, but now I do something like 800-1000 words a day, this is due to this google extension. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hey-habit/icjfbcjblodechjjiomddmjepanloeeb

It serves a good reminder to write, also note the jump in productivity could be due to writing on computer again.

Screenshot
  1. Either they are translating others work.
  2. Or they just put the time effort and slog into it.
  3. And/Or they are brilliant at writing.
  4. Plus they have a passion for what they are writing.
Passion exists out of competence, and having tangible impact. See

They write, obviously. If authors don't spend their time writing then it's a contradiction to their role or purpose. Then again, sometimes, it's not really all about writing. Some experience experiences they want to write in their stories, some procrastinate, and there are some who considers themselves procrastinators, but just really wasting their oxygen to watch CasuallyExplained.

Ah, I see the confusion.

What I mean is that stories have...structures. Usually, there are certain elements that a story needs. So that's why it's hard for me to imagine just one story with so many chapters. I wondered if maybe they were writing mini stories and tacking them on together. I never imagined that it was just one big story.

That's definitely food for thought.

Look. Some write on impulse, and others carefully plan their stories. They want to invest their time flourishing and developing a tale they love. Maybe unable to let go of their stories, or they're not finished with what they're going with their story.

I get the feeling that you're upset, but I asked a legit question. I thought this was a style I wasn't aware of.

If it's just people writing to their heart's content then okay. I can appreciate that drive.

Well, first of all, chapters have varying sizes. Some have 500 words chapters, others have 10,000+ word chapters. That said, it's all about pacing. If you can resist the urge to rush to the climax and focus on buildup and world building, you can write quite a lot.

The most important thing is having a story to tell. If you do, 200+ chapters is quite easy to reach (in terms of content, having to put in the effort and commitment is another story)

I actually gave that off? Schmucks, can't write a story if you can't express emotions through words. That's a plus for me!

Don’t think scale or scope is required to make something of quality. Many of the most iconic literary works from the last century have been novellas and short stories.

It happened on accident with my main story. There was originally only going to be around 200-300 pages but it ended up being 1200 and I'm just in a break right now. I made a plan and then realized that the arcs and character backstories we're so long that I had to keep going. It wasn't bad since I loved doing it. Though it takes up all my time as any new story ideas have to wait till I'm done. That said, taking my time and keeping with it has allowed for me to create proper setup for scenes and give in depth character views.

Carefully
Is that a 4000 message milestone I am seeing there? Truly devoted to your spree of nonsense about your fetish and your love and valor to the degree of dislikes in your novel. I'll congratulate you, but remember, you won't get to have the last laugh.

Writing a single day’s events a character goes through can come up to 20k-30k words alone. If people use 1000-2000 words as a standard chapter length that alone is already 20-30 chapters on the high end and 10-15 chapters on the low end. So it’s not that hard to see a story with 100-200 chapters in all honesty.

I'm going to mention something a bit obvious but hasn't been mentioned. They post scenes and break them up as chapters. You get to see 200 chapters when in truth it should be closer to 20.

You walk a journey of a thousand miles one step at a time. Pace yourself and write just enough that you can handle, don't do too much at once.

Their chapters might be 1k. Then it is possible to make 200 chapters. My story The Apple Grotto Nymph ended with 244 chapters. An Explorer's Guide has 109. It is easy when you keep the chapters short.
