I've only been on this site for about a week. In that time I've uploaded 12 chapters to my story, with new ones going up every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So far that story has 107 views and one five star rating.

Obviously this isn't where I want things to stay, but considering how long I've been here, would you say those are good numbers? Or do I need to work on getting my name out there more?

Those are bad stats. Without reading the story, I can recommend you to do two things. The first one is, add more relevant genres and tags, it helps with visibility. Some people browse by tags and genres rather than latest update or trending. So if a reader wants, for example, psychological, but your story doesn't have it in genres, even though it has it in the story, you are losing this reader. Same with tags.

The second one, continue uploading. That's really all you can do. And if you don't get a stat bump by the time you upload around 50 chapters, we can say the story is dead on SH. By "stat bump" I mean getting at least a couple thousand views and 100 or so readers. Those are rough numbers, it might get revived if you upload 50 chapters more, I am not sure. But considering you are focused on getting popular, it would be better to cut your losses and start a new story. Or simply drop SH, up to you.

It's not a "good" numbers, but if you don't write for money, you don't really care. Views are not important, the numbers of readers are.

Also the first five star are somehow given to any story from what I've seen so far.

I feel like I've got all the ones that apply to my story. It's a comedic urban fantasy about a non-human magical girl who's forced to live with a human boy and serve as his bodyguard. They start off hating each other but become friends. The girl constantly travels through dimensions to hunt monsters. Her other best friends are a genie and a leprechaun (there's no leprechaun tag, though). There's going to be romance eventually, so that, plus maybe the unrequited love tag, might fit, but I don't want to spoil future chapters by preemptively adding tags.

Are there any other tags you'd suggest I use?

My man, I didn't read your story. How would I know? Sure, you gave me synopsis, but tags are a bit more specific than that. As for genres, romance to be more specific, there is no easy solution to it. You either spoil or lose potential readers. I really can't help with this. But! Other forum users might come up with a good solution. Wait a bit for their takes.

Writing webnovels is, like almost any other online quasi-job, partially skill and partially luck. There is a sea of options for readers, and you're a fisherman with a single line. All you can do is make sure you're doing everything right, and hope that you get lucky.

I wrote a thread on this a while ago.

This.
Most of the stories that take off don't do it right away.

If you want most common tags this is a good way to check them https://www.scribblehub.com/list-tags/?st=1&sort=count&order=desc

Personally, I would recommend easing off the pace of updates. Very few people initially are willing to read that fast. My most successful posting was during one of the contests about unusual Isekais. I made one that was like a cross between Gregor Sansa Metamorphosis and a fantasy adventure with bugs. The first couple of postings just happened as I finished them they were a couple hundred words once or twice a day at maximum.

A low point of entry is preferable if someone's going to take a chance on your work. An introduction which is fun illuminating and less than 1000 words is often a good idea until you have people who are following you. Regular updates are good but a deluge of posting a lot of new updates without cooldown for readers to have the time to read them honestly feels more like a waste and each new one on top of that makes it harder and harder for a new reader.

One thing you might try is writing one shots or vignettes in a clearly labeled series. Right now all you want more than anything is a following.

Hey, it took me two weeks and three chapters to get to that point with one story (which, earlier today, was #13 on Trending with only seven chapters posted and 8 about to go up), and three weeks, five chapters for another (which pretty much stalled at that level, is finished on my Google Drive and has about eleven more chapters and an epilogue to go), so you are doing pretty well I think.

It's bad. Just don't lose hope because I churned out 20 chapters in 1 week and only managed 101 views with no rating.
