Hi everyone!
It's been a while since I wanted to write this kind of story, but I keep telling myself I've already written one. Why should I write another one when I didn't finish or didn't even write at all those days?
But I keep wanting to write about it, so here I am.
I just can't decide what to write between a Vrmmorpg story or a LitRpg Apocalypse story. Well, I think the last one will have a lot of freedom in terms of writing compared to the other who needs more specific "rules."

Help me!
Thanks!

I choose VRMMORPG because it is superior, in it, shitty system can be justifiable compared to those cringe LitRPG ones

Make it Vrmmorpg. No cheating though. No out of bounds, no duping, in other words, not glitches. Cause glitches are like cheats.
I think if I go Vrmmorpg, there will be "Hidden class", does it count like cheat? :blob_hmm_two:
Well it's not only for the MC, but the out of bounds can change depending on what your talking about.

I like lite-LitRpg

Not sure if I’m the only one who uses the term, but I consider it to be a story where strength can be represented by numerical values like levels, but there is no video game type mechanics related to strength progression.

Writing a story like that. Where there are levels but strength gain is done realistically, you don’t gain any power from killing something else, but rather training and insight. At like 10k words now, if i get to 20k i might start posting it idk

Also I don’t like vrmmo stories too much, because they all feel like they are written by people who have no understanding of mmos. Nearly every vrmmo story has players obtain a super strong powerful 1 of a kind class, but if that shit happened in a real mmo players would be pissed. Especially with the common thread of making money from vr games, something like that would open up the company to lawsuits.

The only mmo game i think of that did classes like that is adventure quest, but that game is dead, and was always more single player focused

You know what I am talking about, don't play stupid. No cheats! :blob_thor:
Ok so there will be cheat :blobrofl:

I just don't think of Hidden Class as "cheat", when it come to Vrmmorpg, what I think is cheat is if the character have a system or mechanic given to him/her without doing anything to obtain it. Like having a exp boost, or 100% drop rate etc.....

VMMORPG but It's the equivalent to a Bethesda game and is as such horribly imbalanced and buggy as hell

I got no clue about what your goal is, but personally I'd go for vrmmo. You could go SAO or SLF routes. There are more restrictions, but it's even better when a protagonist can outsmart a system everyone else is using at the same time. LitRPGs feel more like "do whatever man". Hard vs soft magic systems, y'know.

My goal is just to write a story in that genre, and thanks for your answer, but the SAO and SLF routes don't interest me at all.
And, yes, Litrpg feel more like "do whatever" that why I think it have more freedom in term of writing.

There's more freedom, yeah, but it's also open to the many pitfalls of deus ex machinas. I'm personally not a huge fan of litrpgs because, well frankly, I find the idea of stat numbers and skills in a fantasy world wack lmao. I can stomach it because of its adjacent relationship with isekai, but I do vastly prefer the more reasonable (in my eyes) vrmmo type.

As always it's just a matter of execution. Good luck with whichever you choose.

Neither, I challenge you to work hard on your worldbuilding and make a fantasy story without those lazy tropes. No levels, no instant learning skills, no game logic.

Only if you want of course.
