I'm currently an author uploading a Korean-style web novel here.
In the past, I’ve published slower-paced, book-style novels, so I'm still adjusting to writing in a more fast-paced web novel format.

I have two questions:

Are Korean-style web novels well-known among readers here on Scribble Hub?
(I'm curious how familiar the community is with Korean-style pacing and storytelling.)

Are there readers or authors here who are familiar with certain Japanese cultural tropes, like mesugaki or papakatsu?
(I'm currently serializing a web novel in Japan and am considering trying a similar story here. I'd love to know if there are readers who are familiar with these kinds of Japanese cultural themes.)

Thank you very much for any insights!

SH is connected to NU, of course they know all the KR and JP and CN writings. There's no inherent cultural gap present compared to RR or even WN KR storytelling wise, because the readers have been exposed to them. Assume that the readers are exactly the same, just English speaking, not Hangul speaking.

I dunno about others, but I've read JP web novels since 2010, and sprinkled SKR and CN to the amount of at least half a dozen each.

So even if I don't know the trope names, they're familiar enough for me to predict outcomes.

What do you mean by 'Korean style'? If you mean Gate or Rofan stuff, yes. You'll do fine.

If you mean 'I'm going to translate Korean novels and post em here', I will find out and tell on you cuz I can. Mwahahaha.

If you mean 'I'm South Korean, so I'm afraid of how my style will be recieved here', your nationality does not matter. It's fineeeeee.

My suggestion is to include footnotes so all readers will know.
It's never a bad idea to inform readers about new things.

if you're talking about the Gate/ Awakener/ Returnee genre, there's no worries to have. A fair amount of authors here use these trope, and quite frequently it seems.

Many here are familiar with such tropes. One thing I noticed however (maybe not really related to your question), is that some people aren't too fond of writing that mixes-up English writing and Asian honorifics. But that decision ultimately falls into your hands.

In any case, have a fun time writing your novel here !

:sweating_profusely:

As AYM said, English only, lmao. So no foreign languages. Hm... I think it might be ok in private convos? I'll ask!
