I like the comedic adore of novella's, though, I was never the comedic genius to be able to write one. It is a shame though because every time I could think of a funny joke, I'd try to write it down. However, the joke becomes less and less funny as I write it down while also forgetting the punchline, and when I am finished writing the joke... I start imagining a conclusion that I'd be the one who's getting snickered by if anyone read the joke.
Probably horror. Crime detective.
I once wrote a crime detective story, yet never the horror. Horror was the epitome of giving anxiety, tempting the readers to try and control the dullest characters, and making everyone feel and be like the character in the story... thinking what they'll do in that situation, feeling the character's emotion, and trashing the characters for their stupid actions.
Then again, crime detective was something I'd written due to the inspiration I got from detective-like video games like; Ace Attorney Investigation or the Devil on G-string... there was actually a lot more. Although, while the inspiration strikes, the procrastination was unbearable at that time of day when I was a writer... because, in order to write something, I had to structuralize every single dialogue, plot twist, and ending. And yes, there was also the monologue 'cause I was a first-person writer.
It was like this... the more you think, the more you procrastinate... but hey, it is worth it since now you won't be writing a garbage novel.
Possibly secretly Diane Wynne.
