Preference: Chinese webnovels, modern/cultivation world settings, but other stuff are welcome.

Also... any non-toxic master x disciple cultivation story that is NOT harem? Haven't find any after scouring the cultivation realm for years...

Some stories I would recommend (not romance, just thought of adding this)
1. The Kings Avatar
E-sports GOD got kicked out of his org (He gave this org THREE CHAMPIONSHIPS, ALWAYS THE MVP, but they still kicked him out blergh) because he isn't marketable, proceeds to make his own team.
This shi is peak, like PEAK. Although there are a bit too many fight scenes imo, the story is really fun, and there's like thousands of fanfic on this story at AO3, personally I recommend autumn empire if you already read the official story, it's basically TKA but wish fulfillment to the max.
(this one's 1k+ chapters)

2. The Legendary Mechanic
Power leveler player got reincarnated into an NPC, proceeds to harvest players like leeks.
Very fun for me, intense when it needs to be, chill when it should be, and funny at certain moments. Although there are some plot holes here and there, but as long as you don't think too deeply about stuff it shouldn't matter too much.
(1k+ chapters too)

It made me sad that this hasn't gotten replies.

I am working on a story that focuses on a non-harem green flag x green flag relationship (or at least it's supposed to be).

However,

very slow-burn

No sex in the first novel

Set in America in 2031 (something of a dark urban fantasy), and has political/satirical themes and plot lines that refuse to pick a lane. If you are someone who either needs escapism, no politics, or politics that validates and doesn't challenge potential priors (and no judgment if so) it has potential to offend and upset.

While I'm really going for authentic and wholesome romance, found family, and character growth with earned feel-good victories... this is a story about radicalization, loneliness, and literal demons and ghosts: there's dark subject matter and infrequent but not absent graphic violence (no sexual violence).

So in short, I'm making an earnest effort at a green flag, earned, non harem romance. But the water it's swimming in is not escapism, or all sunshine and rainbows and I don't want to bait and switch.

How do you feel about that?🙃

Not exactly what I had in mind, but sounds fun, can you link your story?

Here you are, hope you enjoy it.

And I hope more people respond to this thread. Something about a request for two green flags in a romance going unanswered makes me run my hand through my hair like "aw man, we really are cooked :blob_dizzy:".

Exactly ☠️, is romance dead? Do people just not read them? Atp I'm going to start recommending the ones I've read instead of asking for more

Also... damn, that did NOT look like a romance novel from the cover and blurb AT ALL, is the focus on psychology and stuff?

The romance in the story is a major pillar of the protagonist's arc, and I make considerable effort to make both members of the relationship fully realized agentic interdependent characters.

But I would not call it a romance novel so much as a Dark Urban Fantasy with a prominent romance subplot. Setting the synopsis aside, I'd say it's chiefly a story about a protagonist having to combat and contain supernatural threats that are empowered to infiltrate the world through societal dysfunction, and about his and her refusal to become worse people despite bad cultural messaging and perverse incentives.
