The story is about.. two MCs I guess? One of them is in essence the god of the multiverse, the other just a random human dude, his one & only friend iirc. The universe is trapped in a cycle that repeats, the god mc has lived through.. 8(?) or something like that, cycles of the universe, each the same. A few cycles ago he stopped time when the 2nd MC was just about to die, & while time is stopped they're exploring ways to free the multiverse.
I also remember that the reason the 1st guy is "god" is cause all others basically died in a war or something, so he was basically the last one standing or whatever, or maybe an amalgamation of the ones remaining (though I think the 1st), & the universe repeats itself because the other gods are dead. Also the god MC can't directly interfere with the universe, so he's more like.. an observer that can observe wherever & whenever & whatever.
As for the title phrase, it stuck with me ever since I read it. I think the scenario was that mortal dude asked god mc "wouldn't you insane?" (after a couple of the infinite-length lives of the universe) & his reply was "yeah, but eventually, even insanity wears off" or something along those lines.
When I was reading it it was dropped, though it may have been resumed. Either way, any & all help is appreciated, if someone does end up knowing the title I recommend anyone else gives it a try!
Thanks a bunch! : )
