For authors who include images in their story, what host do you use?

As some of you know you can insert images into a story, but this is done through live-linking so none of the images are actually hosted by scribblehub itself and to my knowledge there's no way to directly upload. I've tried using patreon to host images and linking from there, but the image links always break after a few days which is a constant source of frustration. I've been thinking of using a chapter header decoration but that would require an image on every single chapter which would really be a mess if the links ever broke.

Is there a source that people have found reliable for hosting images?

I upload them onto my server (not Discord) since it is more convenient for me. Though as others have said, Imgur, ImgBB (which I used to use), Gyazo, and even Discord will work fine. [my current signature's photo is an example]

You can also create a group chat in Discord but not add anyone and be the only person there. Whatever you post there will have a link you can then copy and paste or reference anywhere and the image will be visible. That's what I mostly use since it's fast and works well. Naturally, like with any other places, avoid posting sensitive information there ofc. Nothing yet failed to load or disappeared, including things I "hosted" like that over a year ago.

I commissioned most of mine from DeviantArt users, and they tend to share the full version of the images without the watermark with me through Stash, so I also back them up in my personal Stash and use that. By the way, one of the artists I paid over a year ago finally came through. I'll be posting this to Chapter 17 of my story soon:

Imgur is by far the most straight forward. Just drag the image onto Imgur and then copy the direct link. Done.

Or just click on the image then click copy and then paste it in the URL box in the image setting.

Edit: do this on mobile since you can't drag and drop.

For anyone who doesn't know where to paste/drag the image:

In the chapter creation settings. Source is the URL code you can paste, you grab the URL code when you copy the image directly than taking it from the actual URL bar, it gets complicated when you take it from there.

I use imgur for official illustrations of my story, and my own Discord channel for unofficial ones.

You can even set it to self destruct if you want to show it for a limited time, such as back when Ai-chan posted Ai-chan's private pictures on novelupdates 2-3 years ago.
