After many years trying to write out a story with very little success, I found the inspiration I needed in some mid-tier Isekai manga, and Records of the Valkyr: An Airship Odyssey in Another World's Azure Skies is the result.
Synopsis: James T Rawlins is a dirigible nut. Lucky for him, since he gets truck-kunned into a Gaslamp Fantasy world, and he's given an ability that allows him to create his own airship! This story will follow him as he gathers materials, find ways to make money, assemble a great big motley crew that are as looney as him, and finally, build the best darn airship this world has ever seen! Skies Ahoy!
This story might be for you if you're looking for:
-An Isekai/Otherworld story where the MC isn't OP and can't just lay waste to everything on his own. His ship will eventually be very powerful, but he'll always need his crew to get anything done.
-A story where the protag doesn't get, or wants to get, every woman around him. There will be several females in his crew, but only one, and not right way, ends up with him. The ladies are there for his Di(rigible), not his Di(**).
-A story set in a Gaslamp fantasy world. It might also be your cup of tea if you're interested in steampunk and/or dieselpunk as this will have elements of both. The setting is basically a classic fantasy world that is well into an age of industrialisation. This means WWI era machine guns, cars and electricity exists, but co-exists with people fighting in chainmail and full sets of metal armor, and using swords, bows and crossbows, although the last two have been phased out from wide spread military use. Adventurers and civilians still use them widely.
-A story about a great big crew made up of assorted lunatics and goofballs, that somehow still pulls through with a mix of dumbassery and badassery. If you're familiar with the mid 90's anime Irresponsible Captain Tylor (check it out if you haven't, it's wild), it's going to be quite like that.
