Or evening wear for events in a fantasy setting.

I don’t want just tuxes. Any sites you recommend for me to check for inspiration? Should I look at prom/gala type dresses and tweak them? What about the Marvel Hellfire Gala types that the X-men host?

don't stick to medieval times. Go a little later, probably during the "peak" of Industrial Revolution.

EDIT: well, I guess that tux and suit are still popular in that era (particularly Victorian), I guess you can do suit and tie, like in the early 1900 (just before World War 1), or you can put the usual high class folks

I guess it depends on the style of fashion for your story you're going for.
Is it a noble society type of formal event?
Mercenaries?
Magicians?
Beastmen, elves, orcs, dwarves, fairies, demons, etc...?
I can imagine they'd have different styles.
You could also consider the kind of environment the event is held, too.
A hot country might have the people wearing more flowy, light coloured outfits that don't make the wearers feel stuffy.
A cold one could have lots of gloves, furs, cloaks, hats, fancy scarves/neckerchiefs.

Then there's the accessories.
Is it a place where women are expected to wear lots of jewellery on their person, or very little?
Ribbons in the hair?
Hair up with ornaments?
Gemstone brooches?
Belts with storage functions enchanted into them?
Earrings?
Piercings on different parts of the face?
Rings with tiny chains?
Long fake nails?
See-through veils?
Makeup?

For the men's accessories...
Maybe they wear watches?
Or armguards?
Or lots of rings?
Or numerous sash belts?
Or sashes over the chest?
Or piercings on the face/ears?
Hair long and tied up?
Makeup?
Gloves?
Tassles on shoulders?
Gems embedded in the outfit?
Ties?
Cravats?
Ribbons?
Scarves?
Handkerchief in pocket?

Would the event be a masquerade?
What kind of masks would they wear, if so?

Would there be dancing at the event?
Ballroom couple style?
Group style?
Solo?
Bangra type?

Servants/waiters at the event?
Social hierarchy/customs to follow?
Food?
Drink?
Music?
Entertainment?

But to answer your initial question for sites...
I don't know, sorry.

Sorry about my rambling.

I hope you manage to get some inspiration from somewhere.

Sort of neo-protestant identical mouse-colored clothing? Unless there was a protestant reformation and like Dutch merchants running around like mice, I'd do something more interesting.

Look at Henry 8th, or the Laughing Cavalier.
