Not sure how to go about starting this thread, but I am sure what I want it to look like. I want to get an organized list and group of indexes for clothing styles used primarily in fantasy stories, so that visualizing character clothing styles is a bit easier. Examples would be, grouping by time-frame/era, long vs short... Any artists willing to contribute some examples, externally or from their own work is fine. Looking mostly for unique concepts.

I mean what you're mostly looking for here is usually inspired by irl fashion, so a good way to look into this would be studying a wide variety of fashion from different cultures, era, and movements as an art form.

It also depends on the environment. For exemple, my fantasy story takes place in a desert, so the clothes are created according to that fact

Several role-playing games have already done this - the "Goods and Gear" book put out by Kenzer and Company for the Kingdoms of Kalamar setting (in D&D 3.x and HackMaster 4th Edition) had some great examples, some straight historical, some tweaked for setting deviations.
There were two books like that for D&D before that but I never owned those. A lot of settings guides (the d20 Slayers series - which include some mythical creatures, but also historical settings - had some good details on Aztec and Wallachian (Transylvanian) costuming (often violated on the cover for "cheesecake factor"); their Chinese one (or one of them - I've heard they had two) wasn't as good - it seemed to assume one small region influenced the entire empire. For turn of the (19th-20th) Century fashions, any version of "Ravenloft: Masque of the Red Death had some solid examples (and some references to look into for more detail)

Been meaning to reply. Had much less time for this than I thought I did. I might not be able to organize these things as I had planned to, but there are still some good sources you have suggested. Thanks for that.
