So there are a lot of story idea's that already exist, and popular ones should be quoted if someone wants to make a fanfiction in their universe or similar universe idea. I won't even go into fanfictions of fanfictions. (This is going to sound so sarcastically philosophical) I find myself pondering how to write a fanfiction for stories that have very complicated storylines. I have two examples, that I had idea's for but just couldn't go scrounging for the lore as of yet. Evillious Chronicles and Kagerou Daze. Both are amazing stories on their own(That I have read/listened too), but how are you supposed to deal with multiple endings and time loops? Sure you can just choose one ending but that's bleh in my opinion.

I guess my point/question is, If you've made a fanfiction you got any tips on fanfictions with extremely extensive story composition?

(I don't know what I am asking for exactly, but when other people just randomly think of something, My brain is like, What are the practical/theoretical applications of it? and I end up over analyzing stupid sh*t)

give the MC a save/load feature?
in that case, they could push forward the plot leading to one ending, load a 'save-game' and instead push for another ending.

In other words limited time travel.
I would put heavy restrictions on this ability. For example, only 4 save-slots can exist at any given time, and the loading-ability can only be used twice a year.
You could even introduce additional people with the same ability, all messing with each other and each trying to reach a certain ending for the 'original main character of the original story'.
Or only they have this ability, but the mc lives outside the timeline, meaning that every time one of these people loads a save-game the mc gets a summary of what happened between the saving and loading.

And maybe there is a villain who can corrupt save-games, when meeting one of these people, or a hero, depending on how they use that power.

A fanfiction requires proper research on the series , you are making your story off of like monster girl quest or some other series.
If fans of said series are knowledgeable of said series and you changed the original too much , they will riot on you,
If you add a new character and make their behavior different and the rest same as the source , the hardcore fans and new both will enjoy it.

In my opinion, writing fanfiction is harder than writing an original novel.
You must research the world, how they work and where they are headed.

If there is a plot hole in your fanfiction, then it's over.

Aren't those two like... Based on vocaloid songs?? Good luck man, I tried writing fanfics of two games and it was hard enough picking up bits of lore from the character voice lines and items. I recommend watching videos or reading forum posts that elaborate on certain points in the story. Remember, the more you know, the more you can write. Who knows, you may even surprise a few fans with your knowledge on the topic.

Technically your right but both have a lot of accompaning books. for Evillious its fan-based, but Kagerou daze has Music, Manga, Novel, and Anime, and each is the sequel to the other. It's not like different ways to show the same story, each is a different one in the same timeline.

Evillious Chronicles and Kagerou Daze.
man, it's been a while since i've listened to the evillious chronicles and kagerou daze!

how are you supposed to deal with multiple endings and time loops? Sure you can just choose one ending but that's bleh in my opinion.
ig my advice would be to write where your fanfic is taking place so your audience has the right context for your fic, e.g. [continuation after x ending] or [follows x timeline]. simply stating when everything is taking place is fine.

if chapters/sections of your fic follow multiple endings/timelines, just let your readers know by either titling or subheading the appropriate parts. but if that's not your style of writing, you can weave snippets of references that would only happen in that timeline e.g. x character's death and let the audience figure where and when this fic takes place. although take care with this approach as it can be hella confusing to read.

but my biggest piece of advice is, have fun! fanfiction is a celebration of something you enjoy, so enjoy it! the thing about writing is no matter how much you plan, you're gonna end up stumbling into a problem you'll never foresee. but the best part is trying to figure out how to solve it because that's what makes stories interesting.

anyway i hope this helps and good luck!
